How does Watch Sync work?
The sync tool reads events from the computer's local ActivityWatch API, then uploads authenticated batches to Watch over HTTPS using a device token.
Watch Sync currently reads ActivityWatch buckets and events from http://127.0.0.1:5600 by default. The user first creates a one-time-visible device token in Watch and then provides that token to the sync tool on their own computer.
The first sync defaults to the most recent 30 days. In watch mode it periodically checks for new events. The tool saves local progress and slightly overlaps the previous time range; the cloud side deduplicates event content so an interrupted sync can resume safely.
The local ActivityWatch service remains on localhost. Watch does not directly expose the user's ActivityWatch Server to the public internet.
